Mental Health Awareness 2025

Free Your Mind Walk-A-Thon

Join Us This Weekend

Mental health matters, and this Saturday, August 9th, we have an incredible opportunity to show our support while having fun with family and friends. I’m excited to invite you to join me at the 2025 Mental Health Awareness “Free Your Mind” Walk-A-Thon at Burroughs Park in Tomball, Texas.

As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who works with clients across Houston and beyond, I see firsthand how stigma prevents people from getting the help they need. Events like this Walk-A-Thon create safe spaces where we can openly discuss mental health and show our community that seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

What to Expect

The event kicks off at Burroughs Park, located at 9738 Hufsmith Road in Tomball. Whether you’re up for the full 7-mile course or prefer to take it easy, there’s something for everyone. The walk itself is just the beginning. We’ve got activities that’ll keep both kids and adults entertained throughout the day.

You can challenge friends to Connect 4, spike a volleyball, shoot some hoops on the basketball court, or try your hand at ping pong. There’s even tetherball and checkers for those who want a more relaxed competition. It’s the perfect mix of physical activity and good old-fashioned fun.

Food, Community, and Resources

No community event is complete without great food, and our food truck will be serving up delicious options to keep everyone fueled. You’ll also find various vendor tables with resources and information about mental health services in our area.

I’ll have my own table set up where we can chat about trauma therapy, marriage counseling, and PTSD treatment options. It’s a chance to ask questions in a no-pressure environment and learn about telehealth services that make mental health care more accessible than ever.

Getting Your Tickets

Tickets are affordable for the whole family. Kids ages 5-9 can join us for $30, while everyone 10 and older pays $55. We’re offering special pricing for seniors over 65 at $45, and volunteers can participate for just $30. Children under 4 get in free, and groups of 10 or more save 20% on their tickets.

Why This Matters

Breaking down mental health stigma starts with conversations like the ones we’ll have this weekend. When we come together as a community to support mental health awareness, we’re telling everyone that it’s okay to not be okay sometimes, and that help is available.

Whether you’re personally affected by mental health challenges or simply want to support others in your community, your presence makes a difference. Let’s walk together, play together, and continue building a community where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health.

See you Saturday at Burroughs Park. Together, we can free our minds and support one another.
